Cherry Blossoms & Goldfish: Spring Art Aquarium Experience in Ginza

Cherry Blossoms & Goldfish: Spring Art Aquarium Experience in Ginza

very spring, Tokyo’s Art Aquarium Museum Ginza transforms into a dreamlike world where goldfish, cherry blossoms, and light installations blend into one immersive experience.

Located inside Ginza Mitsukoshi department store, the museum will host its seasonal exhibition “Meccha Sakura 2026” from February 27 to April 22, 2026.

The exhibition surrounds visitors with soft pink lighting, floating sakura petals, and elegant goldfish swimming through artistic aquariums.

A Sakura-Themed Goldfish Art World

The Art Aquarium Museum is known for combining traditional Japanese goldfish culture with contemporary digital art.

During the spring exhibition, the entire space is transformed into a sakura-inspired installation.

Pink lighting fills the gallery while goldfish glide through intricately designed tanks, creating a scene that feels closer to an art installation than a conventional aquarium.

The result is a serene and slightly surreal atmosphere that has made the museum one of Tokyo’s most popular indoor attractions.

Sakura Torii Corridor by Hibiya Kadan

One of the highlights of the exhibition is the floral installation created in collaboration with Hibiya Kadan, a well-known Japanese floral design company.

Visitors pass through a corridor lined with torii gates and cherry blossom trees, forming a pathway that feels like entering another world.

The subtle gradients of pink flowers and lighting create depth and visual layers, making this space one of the most photographed areas of the exhibition.

The Goldfish Fountain of Light

Following the cherry blossom pathway leads visitors to a luminous installation often referred to as the Goldfish Spring.

Here, light reflections, water movement, and floral elements combine to create a fluid visual spectacle.

Goldfish swimming through the illuminated tanks create ever-changing reflections on the water surface.

Sakura Waterfall & Goldfish Collection

Another striking installation is the Goldfish Waterfall, where flowing water and cascading cherry blossoms surround elegant goldfish tanks.

The exhibition also features a Goldfish Collection gallery, displaying various breeds of ornamental goldfish.

Some tanks are decorated with cherry blossoms, creating a poetic scene of goldfish swimming through sakura petals.

A special display called Shin Kingyo Evaluation allows visitors to observe the fish from above, showcasing rare varieties—including goldfish with names inspired by cherry blossoms.
